Little wonders
A couple of quick snaps of a Bonsai garden we found in the Botanical gardens in Singapore. I can’t imagine how old some of these little beauties are, but they seem so mature.
I tried to use the DOF to my advantage to focus the eye onto the one predominant subject.Otherwise the power of each plant would be lost in an “all in focus” view.
As good as it was to see so many great little trees, the shallow DOF seems to give the tree an even more “miniature” feel to them. I guess it’s our mind tricking us that since there is a shallow depth of field the item must be small and magnified by the camera. This is a similar effect as tilt shifts shot convince your eye that the items must be minitures.
