Night lights
Shooting at night is a great way to get fantastic dynamic colours. If you can manage the slower shutter speed then there is plenty of opportunities that become available in the beauty of the night.
I took this shot while out one evening in Southbank in Brisbane. There was a celebration of Buddha’s Birthday which added the Chinese lanterns into the mix. I tried to tie the shapes and elements all together to create the composition that you see. Almost like a digital snail.
I actually shot this handheld with my FujiX100S. The high ISO performance is really quite impressive. This was 1/8 second shutter speed at F/2 (wide open) and ISO3200.
